Saif 'out of danger'

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan is 'out of danger's after being attacked and stabbed multiple times by an intruder inside his apartment in Bandra in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

The 54-year-old undergone an emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital, where he was rushed after the attack.

“Saif sustained 6 injuries, including 2 minor, 2 intermediate, and 2 deep wounds. One of the injuries is close to the spine, requiring a neurosurgeon’s involvement,” said Dr. Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital. 

Mumbai Police have registered a case of ‘armed robbery with intent to cause death or grievous hurt.’ The intruder, believed to have entered with the intention of robbery, fled the scene using the building's staircase.

"He has six injuries, two of which are deeper. One of the injuries is closer to his spine," a senior police official confirmed. 

Saif’s family members, who were present at the time of the incident, are safe, and police are continuing their investigation.

2.5-inch long knife removed

Doctors at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital revealed that a “2.5-inch long” knife was removed from his spine.

Dr. Nitin Dange, neurosurgeon at Lilavati Hospital, stated, “Mr. Saif Ali Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital at 2 am with a reported history of assault by an unknown individual. He sustained severe injuries to the thoracic spinal cord, with a knife lodged in the spine. Emergency surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair the leaking spinal fluid.”

The knife had caused a spinal fluid leak, necessitating urgent intervention.

Ibrahim rushed Saif to hospital in auto-rickshaw

His elder son, 23-year-old actor Ibrahim Ali Khan, rushed him to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw after struggling to find a car. The hospital, located about two kilometers away, received the actor promptly, where he underwent surgery & is now reported to be out of danger.

A video captured after the incident shows Saif’s wife, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, speaking to house staff near the auto-rickshaw. Saif’s team later issued a statement assuring fans that the family is safe.



Sections imposed on intruder

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dixit Gedam has confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been officially registered against the accused.

* Section 311: Robbery with intent to cause death or grievous harm.

* Section 312: Attempted robbery or dacoity with a deadly weapon.

* Section 331(4): House trespass or breaking to commit an offence.

* Section 331(6): House trespass between sunset and sunrise with intent to cause harm.

* Section 331(7): Grievous harm during house trespass or breaking.

Celebs spotted at hospital

On Thursday afternoon, actors Alia Bhatt & Ranbir Kapoor were spotted at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, reportedly to visit Saif Ali Khan. Ranbir, the cousin of Saif's wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, arrived with Alia to show their support. Kareena’s elder sister, actress Karisma Kapoor, actor Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Malaika Arora & others was also seen at the hospital entrance.

Family's statement

Kareena Kapoor team shared a statement regarding the incident on her Instagram handle. "There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khans residence last night.Saif had an injury on his arm for which is in hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine.We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the Police is already doing their due investigations.Thank you all for your concern."
