SMVD Ropeway: Concerns Taken Seriously, Assures LG Sinha 

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha assures public concerns over the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ropeway project will be addressed through consultations, promising safety, sustainability, and religious sensitivity in the plans.  

In a reassuring statement to the public, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed widespread concerns surrounding the proposed Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) ropeway project. The project, which aims to provide a modern transportation solution to pilgrims, has drawn apprehensions regarding its potential impact on religious sentiments, environmental sustainability, and safety measures.  

Speaking at a recent press briefing, LG Sinha emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing all fears through open dialogue with stakeholders. "We understand the concerns of devotees and local communities," Sinha stated. "This project is not just an infrastructural initiative; it is deeply connected to the sentiments of millions. We will ensure it aligns with their expectations and safeguards their faith."  

The ropeway project is expected to significantly ease the pilgrimage journey to the shrine, particularly for the elderly and differently-abled. However, critics have raised issues about deforestation, potential disruptions to the sanctity of the pilgrimage, and technical safety standards.  

Sinha assured that a comprehensive review is underway to mitigate environmental and cultural concerns. Experts are being consulted to maintain the ecological balance and uphold the spiritual significance of the region.  

Local residents and religious bodies have welcomed the dialogue, but some remain cautious. "The promise to consult is good, but we need actions that truly reflect our traditions," a community leader remarked.
