Third Route to Leh Underway as Border Infra Projects Get Top Priority

In a bid to bolster border infrastructure and enhance connectivity, work on a third route to Leh is in full swing. This new route is being developed alongside the existing ones that pass through Srinagar-Zoji La-Kargil and Manali, marking a significant step in the government's efforts to prioritize infrastructure in strategic border areas.

The ongoing construction is part of a broader push to ensure better accessibility to Leh, a region of vital importance due to its proximity to the border. The new route is expected to provide a more reliable and quicker alternative, especially during adverse weather conditions when the other routes might be less accessible.

The first route to Leh, which runs via Srinagar, Zoji La, and Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir, is a critical artery for civilian and military movement. The second route, through Manali, offers an alternative, though it too faces challenges due to harsh weather. The third route, currently under construction, is designed to mitigate these challenges by providing a year-round accessible pathway.

Government officials have emphasized that these infrastructure projects are not only crucial for improving connectivity but also for strengthening national security in the border regions. The new route will enhance the movement of troops and supplies, ensuring that the area remains well-protected and supported.

As work on the third route progresses, it is expected to significantly impact the region, bringing both strategic advantages and economic opportunities to the remote areas of Leh and beyond. The completion of this project will mark a major milestone in the government's ongoing efforts to enhance border infrastructure.
