'Utter Rubbish,’ Says Sharmistha Amid Congress Controversy

Sharmistha Mukherjee, the daughter of former President Pranab Mukherjee, recently criticized the Congress party over the controversy surrounding a proposed memorial for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Referring to the row as “utter rubbish,” she took to social media to express her discontent, sparking a fresh debate within the party ranks.

Her comments come at a time when the Congress is gearing up for crucial state elections, raising questions about its internal focus and public messaging. Sharmistha’s blunt remark hinted at growing dissatisfaction among certain factions within the party regarding its leadership’s priorities.

Sources within Congress have claimed that the debate over the memorial has detracted from more pressing issues, such as policy formulation and campaign strategies. While many party members see the memorial as a symbolic tribute to Singh’s contributions, others believe the timing of the debate is counterproductive.

Political analysts have noted that internal criticisms like Sharmistha’s could further weaken the party’s image ahead of the elections. The BJP has already seized the opportunity, accusing the Congress of indulging in unnecessary disputes while failing to address voter concerns.

Sharmistha’s criticism also serves as a reminder of the deepening ideological rifts within Congress. Her father, Pranab Mukherjee, had himself often been a voice for pragmatism and unity during his political career. Many wonder whether Sharmistha’s latest comments echo his legacy or reflect a broader disillusionment with the current party direction.

As the controversy continues to brew, it remains to be seen how Congress will address such internal dissent while managing external political challenges.
