Over 5,000 Congress workers from Jharkhand will participate in a rally in Delhi next month to protest against what the party has termed “vote chori”, state Congress president Keshav Mahato Kamlesh said on Sunday.

He stated that the workers would attend the rally scheduled to be held at Ramlila Maidan on 14 December. The event, announced by the Congress on Friday, has been named the ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod’ rally and is aimed at raising concerns over alleged attempts to undermine democratic processes. Kamlesh said the Jharkhand contingent would also stage a demonstration against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in various states. He claimed the process had raised apprehensions among party workers regarding the fairness and transparency of electoral roll management.

According to a party functionary, the rally seeks to “send a message across the nation against the alleged attempts to destroy the Constitution”. Party leaders are expected to address issues related to electoral integrity, governance and constitutional safeguards during the event. Preparations are underway for mobilisation from all districts of Jharkhand, and the state leadership has begun coordinating travel and logistical arrangements for participants.

The rally is expected to draw large crowds from several states, with party officials saying it forms part of a broader campaign highlighting concerns about electoral practices and constitutional values.
