Chennai , March 28: The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) conducted its inaugural general council meeting in Chennai on Friday. In the meeting, party chief Actor Vijay said that the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly election is going to be a battle between TVK and the DMK.

Vijay was optimistic about the chances of his party, and he left the Bharatiya Janata Party out of the race.

"Elections in 2026 will be a fight between only two parties: TVK and DMK. Tamil Nadu will witness an unprecedented election in the coming year which it never had," he stated.

TVK chief also targeted Chief Minister MK Stalin, alleging that law and order situation has dipped and women's crime rate has escalated.

"Why are you agitated when we discuss your leadership? If you had performed your duty properly, women's safety and law and order would be improved. I cannot even start talking about the violence against women," Vijay said.

Vijay also expressed his opposition to the delimitation process proposed by the Union government, alleging that it was trying to reduce Tamil Nadu's representation in Parliament.

"Involving delimitation, you are attempting to curtail Tamil Nadu's Parliamentary representation," he declared in the meeting.

He also dared to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in respect to the concept of 'one nation, one poll,' pointing that he knows very well about the intentions of the Prime Minister towards concurrent Assembly and Parliamentary elections. He was leaving the implication that Tamil Nadu will not take a back seat under any circumstance.

"PM sir, we can see through your designs regarding one nation, one election. Be careful with Tamil Nadu, sir. This state has proved its might time and again. I would caution you to go slow, sir," he warned.

Today, in their general meeting, the party sanctioned several resolutions, such as one against delimitation, the three-language formula in the National Education Policy, and the Waqf Bill, among others.

Overall, the party adopted 17 resolutions and voted to urge the Centre to withdraw the Waqf (Amendment) Bill.

On the language policy, the party reasserted its stand for a two-language policy, claiming that the suggested three-language policy in the New Education Policy is contrary to "federalism." They asserted that TVK would not agree to the "imposition" of a third language for political purposes.

The party also termed the proposed delimitation process as "unnecessary," contending that it would result in the reduction of seats for southern states.
