The Election Commission has officially announced the schedule for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. This year, the elections will be conducted in two phases the first phase on November 6 and the second phase on November 11. The counting of votes is scheduled for November 14. According to officials, all necessary preparations are underway to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful polling process across the state.
As per the Election Commission’s data, around 7.42 crore voters are set to decide Bihar’s political fate this year. Among them, 21.53 lakh new voters have been added to the list, while 3.66 lakh names have been removed due to reasons such as death, migration, or duplication. The inclusion of a large number of young voters is expected to add a fresh dynamic to the electoral battle.
This election will also see several new technological and administrative measures. A “mobile deposit facility” has been introduced, allowing voters to safely deposit their phones outside polling booths. The move aims to reduce disruptions and ensure a smoother voting experience.
Political activities have already gained momentum across Bihar. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced that it will contest all 243 seats independently, without forming any alliances. Meanwhile, political strategist Prashant Kishor will enter the fray with his new party, the Jan Suraaj Party, which has chosen the “school bag” as its election symbol representing education and youth empowerment.
The major state players, the JD(U) and the RJD, are yet to release their official candidate lists. However, both parties have started outreach campaigns targeting rural voters with development-focused promises. The opposition has alleged that nearly 65 lakh voter names were unfairly removed from the rolls during the revision process a claim the Election Commission has denied, asserting that the process was conducted transparently and according to norms.
With the polling dates approaching, Bihar’s political temperature is steadily rising. From tea stalls to village squares, one question echoes everywhere who will return to power this time? Whether development, governance, or caste equations shape the voter’s decision, all eyes are now set on November 6 and 11, when the people of Bihar will cast their votes to determine the state’s future.
