The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going to launch a special awareness campaign across the country from April 20 to May 5 to demand transparency, accountability and equitable reforms in wakf properties. Through this initiative called 'Wakf Reform Awareness Campaign', apart from highlighting various information related to wakf management among the common people, public opinion will also be created on various inconsistencies and the need for revisions in the current system.

The party's top leadership said that for many years there are lakhs of acres of wakf properties in different parts of the country, the proper management of which has been questioned many times. These properties are often not used properly due to corruption, irregularities and political influence. The BJP alleges that a class of influential groups have been using these assets for their own interests for a long time, while the real beneficiaries have remained deprived.

As part of this campaign, arrangements will be made for meetings, neighborhood campaigns, leaflet distribution, social media campaigns and information-based videos to be released in various states. According to the BJP leadership, this program will create an environment for discussion among the common people about the functioning of the Waqf Boards and, if necessary, the demand for legal reforms will also be strengthened.

The party claims that it wants a transparent and democratic system in the management of Waqf, respecting religious sentiments, but free from political influence.

According to a section of political analysts, through such programs, the BJP is trying to send a message to a special section of the minority vote bank before the Lok Sabha elections, on the one hand, and on the other hand, it is also trying to build a kind of 'principled' image among the majority society.

The extent of political impact this 'Waqf Reform Awareness Campaign' will have and whether it will bring any real change in society at all will be understood in the coming days. However, for now, a new discussion has started in the political circles of the country on this issue.
