Day 7 of Chaitra Navratri 2025 is Maha Ashtami on Saturday, April 5, which is the day of worship of Maa Mahagauri, the eighth incarnation of Goddess Durga and the personification of peace and purity.
The rituals include Kalash Sthapana, Sandhi Puja, and the much revered Kanya Pujan, where girls representing the nine avatars of Durga are given food and gifts are given to them. Ashtami Tithi began on 4th April at 8:12 PM and will be completed on 5th April at 7:26 PM, so the day is lucky to seek blessings.
Puja is performed by reciting powerful mantras like "Om Devi Mahagauryai Namah" and offering flowers, coconut, and sweets to Maa Mahagauri. Sandhi Puja, performed in the direction from Ashtami to Navami, is believed to be highly effective in the boon of gods as it's the day when Goddess Chamunda killed demons Chanda and Munda.
As per the believers, performing fasts and performing these rituals on Maha Ashtami will make their wishes come true, bring prosperity, and remove hurdles. It's a serious day in Navratri festivities with pilgrims from all over India gathering in worship to be granted the boon of Maa Mahagauri for good health, happiness, and spiritual growth.
