The IPL auction is once again expected to take place outside India. The previous two editions were held in Dubai and Jeddah, and this time too, a Middle Eastern city may host the event that decides the fate of several Indian and international cricketers. Reports suggest that the BCCI is exploring options in the UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar for organizing the auction.
The auction is likely to be held between December 13 and 15. Teams must submit their player retention lists by November 15. Due to India’s wedding season and multiple events in December, hotel availability becomes a challenge prompting the board to continue hosting the auction abroad. Besides convenience, the move also helps in expanding IPL’s presence in the Middle Eastern market.
Major changes are expected in Chennai Super Kings after finishing last in the previous season. CSK may release players like Rahul Tripathi, Deepak Hooda, Sam Curran, and Devon Conway. With R. Ashwin retiring from IPL, the franchise will enter the mini auction with an additional ₹9.75 crore. Rajasthan Royals may part ways with Sanju Samson, while Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana are also on the release list. Kolkata Knight Riders’ moves will also be closely watched.
