A woman was badly hurt in a Maoist IED blast at Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh on March 28th, 2025. An improvised explosive device exploded during an operation by joint security forces consisting of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the District Reserve Guard (DRG).
The explosion took place near Kohkametta, around 1.5 km from the Kutul camp, while the team proceeded towards the Bedmakoti police camp.
The injured woman in the explosion was quickly evacuated to the Narayanpur district hospital, where she is in stable condition. Security personnel stepped up searches in the area to arrest the insurgents who had planted the IED.
This is in line with the overall trend of escalation of violence in the Chhattisgarh state, where the Maoists had increasingly been depending upon the use of IEDs as a means of striking security personnel. Such operations have increased exponentially in the recent past months with most of these IEDs being recovered from them and busted by the authorities across the state.
The government has made efforts at combating this threat as part of its overall drive against Maoist insurgency.
Security is being intensified with investigations ongoing due to the continuing threat posed by such attacks.
