Congress Calls CBI Searches at Baghel's House Political

Congress party has criticized recent raids by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at houses of former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel, terming the move politically motivated.

Raids were launched on March 26, 2025, which coincided with Baghel's planned Delhi visit for Congress meet.

Congress leader Sushil Anand Shukla lambasted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, claiming that the central government is using investigative agencies to harass political rivals. He added that the BJP's fear of Baghel, particularly after he assumed a leadership position in Punjab, is clearly visible in their efforts to bring him down by such means.

The CBI probe is connected to the suspected Mahadev online betting app scam and earlier corruption cases involving the liquor sector during Baghel's rule.

Although the CBI has not made any official statement regarding the particular reasons behind the raids, they are the follow-up to earlier searches by the Enforcement Directorate.

Baghel's party has complained about the timing of these raids, claiming that they are aimed at interfering with his political campaign and damaging his image before future Congress events. The case remains ongoing as both Baghel and his supporters reaffirm their determination to battle these charges.
