DC Kulgam Reviews Arrangements for Ramadan-ul-Mubarak

Kulgam, February 25: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), today chaired a meeting to review and finalize arrangements for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

During the meeting, the DC directed officers of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and the Jal Shakti Department to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity and water, particularly during Sehri and Iftar hours.

Emphasizing cleanliness and sanitation, he instructed Executive Officers of Municipal Committees to conduct special cleanliness drives across the district, focusing on roads, lanes, and drains. He also stressed the need for regular waste collection from markets and the installation of additional streetlights in towns.

To curb profiteering, hoarding, and overpricing, market checking squads will be deployed to monitor shopkeepers. The availability of essential commodities was also reviewed to ensure adequate supplies throughout Ramadan.

Traffic authorities were directed to ensure smooth transportation, particularly during evening hours, to facilitate commuters.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Mohammad Altaf Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Viqar Ahmed Giri, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Mushtaq Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat (ACP), Executive Engineers from Jal Shakti and PDD, Tehsildars, Executive Officers of Municipal Committees, officers from Sheep and Animal Husbandry departments, and members of the Auqaf Committee, among others.
