Delhi Assembly: 14 AAP MLAs, including Atishi, suspended for Hindering LG's Address

The Assembly of Delhi was witness to a major uproar when AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) MLAs interrupted Lieutenant Governor (LG) during his address. This led to a hot confrontation, and 14 AAP MLAs were suspended more or less by force, including Delhi's Education Minister Atishi Marlena.

While the LG started addressing the Assembly, AAP MLAs began protesting by raising slogans to disrupt his address over various issues. This further disturbed the Assembly and led the session to be adjourned for a while.

The Speaker accused 14 AAP MLAs of violating Assembly rules and obstructing Assembly proceedings. While AAP political leaders stated that suspension was an attempt to silence the voice of dissent from the opposition, the ruling side defended such actions as necessary to maintain the visible dignity of the House.

The suspension has sharpened the political battle between AAP and BJP. While AAP leaders have called it an attack on democracy, BJP justified it by saying that order must be maintained in the Assembly.

After the building of this issue, additional eyes would be on political development in Delhi, and only time will tell how influential or damaging the incident may prove in a longer run.
