Fake’ UK Surgeon Performs Heart Surgeries in MP Hospital; 7 Patients Dead

A case of gross medical negligence has come to light in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district where a man posing as a British cardiologist reportedly conducted heart operations, resulting in the deaths of up to seven people. The accused Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav was posing as Dr. N John Kem, a well-known British cardiologist, and had secured employment at a private Christian missionary hospital. He conducted numerous surgeries with no qualifications, resulting in numerous deaths over the course of one month.

Area social activist Deepak Tiwari accused the toll might have otherwise been higher because families were suspicious and had relatives admitted to different hospitals for treatment. The hospital is one that is included in Ayushman Bharat, where government money went too, which made the incident more serious in nature.

There is an inquiry being conducted, and Yadav was approached by the police, who are investigating the surgeon's disappearance. The case was brought to the notice of the National Human Rights Commission and an inquiry was ordered.

The case reflects a serious lapse on the part of hospital verification process and raises doubts about patient safety and abuse of public health outlay.
