Former Bilaspur MLA Bumber Thakur sustained injuries from firing attacks close to his house this afternoon. His PSO, Sanjeev Kumar, sustained grave injuries and was rushed to AIIMS Bilaspur, while Thakur was referred to IGMC Shimla for further treatment.

Sources from the police reported that about 12 rounds were fired during the incident. Thakur sustained wounds to his thigh, whereas his PSO had bullet impacts on his legs, back, and thigh.

However, according to Bilaspur SP Sandeep Dhawal, it is yet to be determined whether they were shot by bullets or pellets, and medical reports would certify their condition.

Ishan Singh, Thakur's son, posted something on Facebook minutes before, explaining that his father had been shot.

Police have used multiple teams to trace and arrest the attackers, while also increasing security in the area. Several other people also sustained injuries and are being treated.

This wasn't Thakur's first time being attacked.

On February 23, 2024, he was attacked outside an office of the railway construction company, and they left him with a broken tooth. At that time, a case was registered against 11 people.

More recently, on June 20, 2024, the prime accused in that case was shot dead right outside the Bilaspur court, which led to the arrest of five people, including Thakur's son.
