Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to hold a press conference at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday at 12:00pm, where he has hinted at a major revelation he has previously described as a “hydrogen bomb”. The announcement comes amid his continuing campaign over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and vote manipulation.
Gandhi has linked the forthcoming disclosure to claims he has made during the culmination of his 16-day Voter Adhikar Yatra, in which he accused the ruling party of large-scale electoral wrongdoing. He has earlier said that what was exposed in Mahadevpura was merely an “atom bomb” and declared: “I want to say to the people of BJP, that, in Mahadevpura, we had shown atom bomb, but soon we will come with hydrogen bomb, BJP get ready. Their truth will be shown to the country.”
During his yatra, Gandhi accused opponents of seeking to undermine constitutional protections and warned of wider consequences. He said: “The forces who murdered Mahatma Gandhi are now trying to destroy the Constitution of India.” He framed his tour as a fight to protect citizens’ democratic rights, calling the alleged vote theft “a theft of rights, reservation, employment, education, democracy.” The Congress leader has also accused the ruling party of attempting to appropriate public assets, asserting that it was working “to take away your ration card, land and give it to Adani and Ambani,” and said his campaign presented proof to the public. He added a pointed message for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Patna: “I guarantee you, after hydrogen bomb, Narendra Modi ji won’t be able to show his face to this country.”
The press conference is expected to draw intense media and political attention given the gravity of Gandhi’s language and the specific allegations he has made. The claims remain allegations at this stage and are being presented by Mr Gandhi as part of his broader campaign to highlight what he says are irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
