The Jammu and Kashmir government has made it clear that there has been a meager 0.6% reduction in the unemployment rate in the region since 2019. The information was provided in the ongoing session of the Assembly, where employment-related data and measures undertaken to address unemployment were shared by officials.
Approved government reports indicate that while the unemployment rate in 2019 in J&K was recorded at 5.4%, it has come down to 4.8%. Though not that significant, the authorities have been underlining the ongoing endeavors to enlarge employment openings under diverse plans and national sector investments.
While adopting a positive stance towards the increasing job opportunities in the future, officials did admit that the creation of jobs continues to be a great challenge. The said government programs include skill development program launches, startup incentives, and developing infrastructural projects with the aim of job creation. Even under the unfortunate uncompleted clouds statewide, they did find an opportunity in it.
Schools enabling private investments in job creation for other youth, however, this decline is said to be not considerable by most of the experts and opposition leadership, who argue that the social and psychic space of unrest had pervaded the economy all this while.
While others might view it as a small achievement, state officials are bent on working against unemployment with elaborate policies and VA interventions targeted to provide funds and work for accomplishing the goal set for unemployment reduction.
The government, however, assured that their constant efforts to attract industries, promote self-employment, and improve skill-based training programs should hopefully yield increased job opportunities for youth in the future.
While maybe a little in their favor, the government says that even that 0.6% is something they see as positive news. The authorities hope that the recovery of J&K and its development would bear fruits in terms of improved employment in times to come.
