Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, attended the inaugural session of a three-day workshop at Jammu University. The core idea of the workshop was the improvement of the education system and aiming at empowering the students through education for an enhanced future.
In his inaugural speech, Omar Abdullah laid great stress on the value of education saying, "Education provides the key for the success of society." He praised the zest and perseverance of students, motivating them for a future of achievements.
The workshops drew professors, policy-makers, and students alike. They deliberated on pressing issues within education and the role of technology, and how to enhance educational standards. Special focus was laid upon the expansion of digital education and providing access to education to remote locations.
Professor M.K. Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, Jammu University spoke on the aim of conducting the workshop thus: "Our aim is to do what brings about quality education and more opportunities for students. This workshop is a step toward that."
The second day of the workshop comprised working sessions and panel discussions where educationists shared their expertise and opinions. On the last day, specialized training and workshops were conducted for the students to build their competencies.
Such initiatives have a great role to play in the development of the education system while creating a platform for an interface between students, teachers, and policy-makers.
