A tragic accident occurred in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, just before the Karwa Chauth festival, devastating a family and the local community. On October 8, 2025, Anuradha, a 35-year-old woman from Bhatiana village, and her husband Hariom were riding their motorcycle to the Gulawathi market to buy items for the festival when a speeding truck collided with them near the Middle Ganga Canal bridge on the Dhaulana-Gulawathi road.
The truck driver lost control while trying to avoid a pothole on the poorly maintained road, leading to a horrifying crash that killed Anuradha on the spot. Witnesses reported the gruesome sight of her heart coming out of her chest and continuing to beat briefly on the road as her husband looked on in anguish.
Hariom was seriously injured and is hospitalized, while their two young sons face the trauma of losing their mother.Locals expressed deep concern over the dangerous condition of the Dhaulana-Gulawathi road, which is riddled with potholes and has caused multiple accidents in the past.
Despite repeated complaints by residents, no repairs have been made, leaving the road a hazard to travelers. The police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the truck driver, who was detained at the scene, and launched an investigation.
Authorities, including Chief Officer Anita Chauhan, intervened to manage the situation and placate the grieving family, who had initially protested not being informed about the post-mortem procedures.This tragic incident has highlighted urgent road safety issues in the region, underscoring the need for immediate infrastructure upgrades, better traffic enforcement, and heightened driver responsibility to prevent further loss of life.
