Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Thursday announced that her party will contest all elections independently, including the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, aiming to form a full majority government. Speaking on her 70th birthday at a press conference in Lucknow, she emphasized that BSP would not enter into any alliances unless a future partner could significantly transfer upper-caste votes a scenario she said could take years.
Mayawati reached out to the Brahmin community, assuring that no injustice or oppression occurred under BSP rule. She urged the community not to be misled by other parties, stressing that dignity, fair representation, and secure livelihoods for all communities including Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, farmers, Dalits, backward classes, and minorities were ensured during BSP governments.
Criticizing the current BJP government and previous Samajwadi Party regimes, Mayawati claimed that people were distressed under both, with law and order failing to improve. She highlighted BSP’s past achievements, including infrastructure projects like expressways and the planned Gautam Buddh Nagar airport, and accused successive governments of merely renaming BSP-initiated welfare schemes for political gain.
Mayawati also raised concerns over the electronic voting system, alleging manipulation in past elections, while affirming that the BSP would continue contesting nationwide with full strength. Paying tribute to Dalit icons and her party founder Kanshi Ram, she reiterated her commitment to fighting for Dalit rights and accused “caste-based parties” of attempting to stall BSP’s growth.
She emphasized the party’s record of inclusive governance, ensuring no harm to religious places, prioritizing minority welfare, and providing support to farmers. Mayawati concluded that the people of Uttar Pradesh were inclined to bring the BSP back to power in 2027, confident that the party would deliver justice, representation, and development to all sections of society.
