Srinagar, Oct 23: Legislators from National Conference (NC) and Congress on Thursday staged a silent protest inside the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, demanding the release of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Mehraj Malik.
The protest took place before the commencement of the Assembly session, with members holding placards and observing a brief sit-in. The placards carried messages such as “Respect the Vote, Respect the Voice, Free Mehraj Malik.”
NC and Congress lawmakers said the demonstration was aimed at urging the government to ensure Malik’s immediate release and to uphold democratic principles.They maintained that protecting the rights of elected representatives was vital to preserving the credibility of democratic institutions.
