manifesto for the Bihar assembly elections 2025 on Thursday, promising a series
of ambitious initiatives aimed at employment, women empowerment, and
infrastructure development. The manifesto, titled Sankalp Patra, was released
by BJP chief JP Nadda and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna, in the presence
of senior leaders from the alliance, including the JDU and Chirag Paswan’s LJP.
The NDA pledged to create one crore government jobs to
address the state’s longstanding problem of mass migration for work. The
manifesto outlined plans for a skill census to provide employment based on
individual capabilities and proposed establishing Bihar as a global skilling
hub with mega skill centres in every district. It also included the development
of Centres of Excellence for sports in Bihar Sports City and other divisions.
Women’s empowerment received a major focus. The manifesto aims to create one
crore ‘Lakhpati Didis’, providing financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh
through the Chief Minister’s Women’s Employment Scheme. The NDA also proposed
the Mission Crorepati initiative to help women entrepreneurs become crorepatis.
Infrastructure and social welfare commitments include the
construction of four international airports and seven expressways, building 50
lakh new pucca houses, providing free ration, 125 units of electricity, free
medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh, and social security pensions under the PM
Awas Yojana.
Addressing the manifesto, the NDA emphasised its goal of
creating a prosperous and self-reliant Bihar, where youth employment and women
entrepreneurship form the backbone of development. The elections for Phase 1 of
the Bihar assembly polls are scheduled within the coming week, making the
manifesto a key focal point in the campaign.
