PATNA: JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar is set to be elected as the leader of the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) in Bihar on Wednesday, ahead of his swearing-in as the state's Chief Minister for a record 10th term on Thursday. The new government under his leadership will be formed on November 20, a key party official confirmed.
According to JD(U) working national president Sanjay Jha, Kumar will first be elected as the leader of the JD(U) legislature party in a meeting with party lawmakers. Following this, he will be officially chosen as the leader of the NDA in Bihar by the newly elected MLAs of all five parties in the alliance. In an interview with PTI Video, Jha said, "Nitish Kumar will be first elected as leader of our legislature party on Wednesday. After that, he will be elected as NDA leader by the newly elected MLAs of all alliance partners."
The election of Kumar as the NDA leader is seen as a significant step in solidifying the alliance's position ahead of his swearing-in ceremony. The event will take place at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan on Thursday, marking a milestone in the political career of one of Bihar's longest-serving leaders.
Nitish Kumar's tenure as CM has been marked by shifting political alliances, and his return to power reflects his continued influence in the state’s politics. His leadership is expected to steer the state government’s policies, focusing on development and social welfare in Bihar.
