Political debates on the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status have continued since the revocation. However, prominent NC leader Omar Abdullah has stepped forward to clarify there would be no plan for re-enacting a proposal restoring Article 370. There is no sense in continuing a political battle regarding it, since by nature of things, we have to accept the decision of the Supreme Court,” he said.

The Indian Constitution's Article 370 was abrogated on August 5, 2019 by the central government, depriving Jammu and Kashmir of its special status and dividing it into two Union Territories. Since then, Omar Abdullah and his party have been stoutly opposing this move. However, according to the recent statement given he hinted the party has been focused on moving practically from now on.

Omar's statement got mixed responses from the opposition camp. Some consider it as being very practical, while others see it as a dirty political tactic. Nevertheless, the message remains crystal clear- "We accept the court's decision, and now it's time to move on."

Political analysts believe the decision was taken bearing in mind the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the forthcoming elections. Time will tell how the different political parties position themselves on this issue in the future.
