The dry weather in the Kashmir Valley has led to acute water shortages. The rivers, lakes, springs are getting dry where underground water levels are dipping. In this situation, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah urged all to be aware and unite against wasting water.

The agriculture sector is suffering a heavy blow due to inadequate rain, where families have no rainwater to nourish themselves. Experts have predicted that immediate action must be taken, or this crisis will continue to get worse in the next period.

A major water crisis could stem from our valley. And we have to take stock now. The state, the administration, and the people can control this issue if they work in tandem. He stressed cutting down on wastage, putting more stress on conservation, and establishing onsite facilities with modern technology by which to solve this dilemma.

Environmental experts shared that rainwater harvesting, cleaning water channels, and efficiently using it as some of the solutions. Though the administration is mounting into its thinking of new proposals, it is going to take in good measure a public awareness campaign. It will be possible, though, if collectively people work, to overcome this water crisis impending for Kashmir.
