Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], April 1:
An Indian court in Mohali sentenced Bajinder Singh, a self-proclaimed Christian pastor, to life in prison on Tuesday. This was for his 2018 conviction on sexual harassment charges.
The victim of the harassment said she was disappointed with the sentence, as she had wanted him to receive at least 20 years..
"I wish he is sent to jail for at least 20 years. He knows what the law says and does it all intentionally. I wish other women feel comfortable reporting him and stop fearing now," she informed ANI.
Advocate Anil Sagar, who was representing the victim, emphasized the importance of the judgment, stating, "He was known as a spiritual leader, and his devotees used to call him 'Papa ji.' When someone like him commits such an act, it's necessary to provide a strong punishment. We are satisfied with the life sentence; he will be in jail for the rest of his life."

"I stopped a man from physically assaulting someone. He then attacked me with a notebook, injuring both me and a young boy who was there. My 1.5-year-old daughter was present during the attack. I believe the government should confirm the video of the incident is real and hasn't been altered by artificial intelligence. After this event, I left the Church. He threatened me too. I went there in faith," she clarified.
In his defense, Pastor Bajinder Singh said the allegations were untrue and that the girl was possessed by an 'evil spirit,' suffered from seizures, and sought his help through prayer.
