Head-to-head between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Indian Premier League (IPL) shows RR has a slightly bigger lead, having won 16 matches out of 28 whereas PBKS have won 11 and one match was not a result. Both sides faced each other for the first time in this venue at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on April 5, 2025, after RR's three-wicket victory in the previous match here in a nail-biting encounter last season.

PBKS, under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, entered the game with a fine start to IPL 2025, having won both their first two games and leading the points table. RR, however, with Sanju Samson back as captain, were looking to kick-start their season after a slow start, having won only one game so far.

The soil of Mullanpur is reported to be hard, with scorching day-time heat and freezing cold nights, which can affect the game. The pitch is mostly batting-friendly, but the toss also plays a significant role in determining the way the game goes. 

Although RR had dominated before, PBKS' recent form and home support inclined them towards winning the match.
