Throngs of pilgrims on Sunday flocked to gurdwaras in Punjab, Haryana and other regions of the nation to mark Baisakhi.
The Amritsar's Golden Temple, a sacred shrine of Sikhism, was beautifully decorated, and most of the devotees visited to offer prayers. Many find taking the holy dip at the Golden Temple sarovar an important aspect to commemorate the day. Overnight stays have also been witnessed on the Golden Temple campus by some devotees to take the dip at dawn. Langars (community kitchens) have been arranged throughout the day to commemorate the occasion.
Apart from the Golden Temple, devotees took a sacred dip in dozens of ancient gurdwaras in Punjab. Also gathered in great numbers were devotees at the Takht Kesgarh Sahib in the holy city of Anandpur Sahib where the Khalsa Panth was established in 1699.
