The Proud Son of the soil from Kashmir, Lalit Parimoo, is a prominent Indian film and television actor. He has played many acclaimed roles. He is best known for playing the scientist "Dr. Jaikaal" in the superhero series Shaktimaan (1997). Besides, Parimoo has acted in a number of Bollywood films, including Haider (2014), where his role was praised critically, and as a professor in Agent Vinod (2012). Parimoo has also written a book titled Main Manushya Hoon (I Am a Human).

In an exclusive interview with Rameez Makhdoomi, he talks to Jazzbaat24 News Network.

How do you see the upcoming young talent, having yourself been a respected and loved actor for so many great roles?

The young talent in the film and TV world in the country is full of promise and calibre. Yes, they are technically more sound. But on the other side, what content is being created can be questioned, as stress is more on crime and horror topics. Personally, I love content on how we live our life and diverse life challenges.

Do you believe social media has taken the pure refinement of potential actors and actresses?

I would agree with your assertions to some extent. But it is the nature and essence of time that dictates these things. When we had cinema, very few people could make it to the acting world, and then the TV world enhanced the opportunities for a larger pool, especially with the advent of Satellite Television channels. Now, with the world getting small at the tip of a mobile, social media has given enormous opportunities to a large number of people to shine their talent. But yes, now there is becoming famous personalities very complex. People should never take the negative route to become famous.

How do you view the Kashmir World Film Festival under the leadership of ace filmmaker Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan?

The Kashmir World Film Festival is a great platform for film lovers and makers. From 30 years down the line, it would be remembered as a historic epoch in the film world of the country.

How does it feel when you come back to Kashmir?

It's always a feeling of delight to be back in my motherland, Kashmir. When in childhood we would travel outside Kashmir, even to Jammu, it looked like an achievement, and now coming back here gives the same feeling of happiness. It's also wonderful to note that from some years, constantly a lot is being done to promote art and culture out here. This is really an amazing feeling.

Your message to filmmakers and other creative people?

My message to filmmakers, writers, and media platforms is to highlight narratives of resilience, creativity, spirituality, and progress. We need to connect to life stories.
