Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today expressed concerns about the government's refusal to properly discuss issues related to the voter’s list in Parliament. Speaking outside the Lok Sabha, Gandhi criticized the government for not being transparent about the voter registration process.
He said there are many problems with the voter list, such as missing or incorrect names, and that the government has not taken steps to fix these issues. "This isn't just a political issue; it’s about protecting democracy. The government should address concerns about the voter list," Gandhi said.
The issue of faulty voter lists has been ongoing, with several parties and citizens raising concerns that people are being left off the list, which could affect fair elections. The Election Commission has said it is working on updating the list, but many believe the problem is still not being handled properly.Rahul Gandhi made his comments after a brief discussion in Parliament about election reforms. He accused the ruling government of ignoring the voter list problem. “It looks like the government wants to avoid talking about this important issue. We need an accurate and fair voter list for everyone,” he added.
In response, BJP leaders denied the accusations, saying the government is committed to ensuring free and fair elections. “The government is making sure the voter list is accurate, and any issues are being fixed by the Election Commission,” said BJP spokesperson Anurag Thakur.
As the elections approach, the controversy over the voter list continues. Many opposition parties are calling for an independent review of the voter registration process. Gandhi’s remarks show that there is growing doubt among the opposition about the fairness of the election system. It remains to be seen if the government will take action to address these concerns or if the issue will continue to be ignored
