Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met party president Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi on Saturday to review the party’s poor performance in the Bihar assembly elections.
Sources said the meeting was attended by AICC general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal, party treasurer Ajay Maken and AICC Bihar in charge Krishna Allavaru. The discussions focused on the Congress winning only six of the 61 seats it contested, marking one of its weakest showings in the state in recent years.
According to party insiders, the leadership examined organisational shortcomings, campaign strategy and coordination issues within the alliance during the election. The leaders are expected to initiate a detailed assessment of factors that contributed to the setback.
The meeting is part of the Congress’ wider post poll review as the party faces growing concerns over its electoral trajectory in several states.
