Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat chaired a high-level hybrid security review meeting in Srinagar on Friday, bringing together senior officers from the BSF, CRPF and multiple intelligence and security agencies to evaluate the current ground situation across Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting comes at a time when the region has witnessed a series of sensitive operations and evolving security challenges, prompting agencies to intensify both coordination and preparedness.

According to officials, all participating formations provided detailed briefings on the ongoing kinetic and non-kinetic initiatives being undertaken across various sectors. These included counter-insurgency operations, intelligence-based interventions and surveillance efforts aimed at strengthening security in vulnerable and sensitive pockets. The DGP was updated on recent field developments, operational outcomes and the overall risk assessment emerging from different districts.

The review highlighted the importance of seamless inter-agency coordination, particularly in areas where joint deployments are active. Senior officers discussed the present operational readiness of their units, the deployment patterns in border-adjacent belts and the mechanisms in place to ensure swift response in case of emerging threats. The focus remained on closing security gaps, improving communication channels and enhancing real-time information sharing.

Officials noted that the security grid in Kashmir is being continuously recalibrated based on ground intelligence and evolving challenges. The meeting also assessed the preparedness of forces to handle unexpected situations, especially in the wake of recent incidents that have underscored the need for heightened alertness.

The DGP emphasized the importance of maintaining operational momentum, reinforcing synergy among forces and keeping critical areas under strengthened surveillance. Agencies pledged to intensify monitoring, refine coordinated strategies and ensure a robust security environment across the region.

The hybrid format of the meeting allowed participation from officers stationed in distant or high-risk zones, enabling a comprehensive exchange of updates and assessments. The review is expected to guide upcoming deployments and operational decisions as agencies continue their efforts to maintain stability across Jammu and Kashmir.
