A Merchant Navy worker from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was brutally murdered, dismembered, and his remains stuffed into a drum that was sealed with cement. The shocking crime was reportedly linked to an affair between Saurabh Rajput's wife, Muskaan Rastogi, and her boyfriend, Sahil Shukla. The police investigation uncovered a disturbing story of love, betrayal, and cruelty.

Saurabh and Muskaan tied the knot in 2016 after a romance, but Saurabh's decision to resign from the Merchant Navy to be with her didn't sit well with his family, leading to tension at home. To escape the conflict, they moved into a rented apartment. Their daughter was born in 2019, bringing some happiness, but it was short-lived. Saurabh discovered that Muskaan was secretly involved with his friend Sahil, which strained their relationship and even led to thoughts of divorce. However, he ultimately decided against it for the sake of their daughter and rejoined the Merchant Navy, leaving for work abroad in 2023.

Saurabh returned home on February 24 to celebrate his daughter’s sixth birthday on February 28. Meanwhile, Muskaan and Sahil had formed a plan to kill him. According to police reports, on March 4, Muskaan slipped sleeping pills into Saurabh's food. While he was asleep, she and Sahil attacked him with a blade, dismembered his body, stuffed the pieces into a drum, and sealed it with wet cement, intending to dispose of it later.

When locals in the area inquired about Saurabh, Muskaan claimed he had gone to a hill station. To throw people off the scent and avoid raising any suspicions, she and Sahil headed to Manali with Saurabh's phone, posting photos on his social media accounts. However, when Saurabh didn’t answer calls from his family for several days, they decided to file a police report.

After Saurabh's family lodged the complaint, the police detained Muskaan and Sahil. During intense questioning, they eventually confessed to the horrific murder. They revealed the location of the body, leading the police to a drum. Unfortunately, efforts to break through the tough cement with a hammer and chisel were unsuccessful. The drum, containing Saurabh's dismembered remains, was taken to the mortuary, where a drill was used to extract his final remains, 14 days after his murder.

Meerut City police chief Ayush Vikram Singh said Saurabh Rajput's family filed a complaint when he was not seen for several days. "On suspicion, we took his wife Muskaan and her lover Sahil into custody. During questioning, they said that on March 4, they killed Saurabh with a knife. They chopped up the body, put it in a drum and sealed it with cement. They dismembered the body, placed it in a drum, and sealed it with cement. The body has been recovered and sent for an autopsy. We have detained both individuals, and they will be presented in court," the senior officer explained.
