New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, actor and former Union Minister Smriti Irani has said that she would be campaigning for the Bihar elections after the Chhath Puja and exuberated confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they are looking forward to celebrating the victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar.
In an exclusive conversation with Times Now Group Editor-in-Chief Navika Kumar, when asked whether she will make an entry in the Bihar elections, Smriti Irani said that many communities are currently indulging in festivities and celebrations, and after the Chhath Puja, she has been given the responsibility in the Bihar state elections.
When asked about NDA's chances in the upcoming elections, Smriti Irani said, "Politics is too serious an issue to be addressed from the fineries of a 'Saas-Bahu' opera, but just as a citizen and karyakarta (party worker), I can only say that under the leadership of PM Modi and looking at political realities, we are looking forward to celebrating the victory of the NDA in Bihar."
Vote Chori Has Backfired On UPA
The former Union Minister said that the issue of 'vote chori', she believed, was started by the opposition to distract the attention of people, especially from the era of violence and mayhem during the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). "I think it has backfired on the UPA," she added.
She further stated that the fact that netas within the UPA are falling apart, the rise in absenteeism, and the lack of seriousness in addressing ground-level issues by Congress and their partners are evident.
Adding further, she said the NDA has consistently worked on development issues, which have been delivered to people on the ground, and on the basis of those works, "we will see a resounding victory for the NDA in Bihar come November 14."
Smriti Irani on Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi Coming Together
When asked to share her views on Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi's alliance for the Bihar elections, Smriti Irani said, "They need to decide among themselves whether they are truly a pair to reckon with or whether there is a lot of fragmentation within that whole combine... I, as a BJP karyakarta, need to focus on my party."
