Students’ Federation of India - United Kingdom held a demonstration in Kellogg College, Oxford University against Mamata Banerjee's speech.

We openly opposed her blatant lies by asking her to provide evidence of the social development she claims to have pioneered in the West Bengal. Instead of allowing us to peacefully express our opinions, the police were called. 

We questioned her on her statements of victim-blaming and lethargy against the RG Kar incident. When Mamata Banerjee claimed to support the students and democratic rights in West Bengal, we asked her why the students have not been able to hold university elections for the last 6 years. We asked why students at Jadavpur University are being tormented and attacked for demanding their rights to student democracy. When Banerjee claimed to have advanced women's empowerment in the state, we asked why the female school dropout rate has increased by 19% in the last year and why the state has one of the highest incidences of child marriage. We questioned Kellogg College on its justifications for platforming a rape apologist,  who has consistently put profits before people. The President of Kellogg College claimed to be leading a revolutionary institution. We asked whether it is revolutionary to endorse an anti-democratic leader who has orchestrated violence against local communities defending their lands against corporatization? 

In support of the students and working masses of West Bengal, SFI-UK raised its voice in opposition to Mamata Banerjee and the TMC's corrupt, undemocratic rule.
