Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami, a veteran leader, has expressed a demand for jobs and land rights for Jammu and Kashmir residents. While addressing a function recently, he highlighted the need to safeguard the interests of the residents, stressing that their rights should never be infringed upon.
According to him, this region has been witnessing increasing rates of unemployment throughout the years, perhaps with the educated youth very fond of working yet unable to find jobs. He urged the administration to frame laws whereby locally chosen candidates would work in both the government and private sectors. Providing stable jobs to the people would, according to him, ease the economic burden and raise development in J&K.
He also expressed the apprehension over land ownership; any sort of agitation under such circumstances might rile up the people from their ancestors' lands. With land laws often posing great worries, said Tarigami, the people should be given better legal protection regarding land rights.
The moment such rights are diluted, there would be immense socioeconomic instability in the region for a long time. Such a voice of Tarigami is echoing with many living in the region because land and jobs remain the perennial problems for the localities. Political observers believe that Tarigami's spotlight on these crucial topics would continue to pressurize the administration to work on such issues. While these discussions go on, the people of J&K are still looking forward to concrete steps that will protect their rights and development.
