A 36-year-old man is accused of murdering his four children by cutting their throats before taking his own life in a village near Roza Police Station, according to a police officer on Thursday.
Rajiv Kumar, who lived in Manpur Chachari village, tragically killed his three daughters—12-year-old Smriti, 9-year-old Kirti, 7-year-old Pragati—and his 5-year-old son, Rishabh, as reported by Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi.
Rajiv used a sharp object to slit their throats and then hanged himself in a different room of their home on Wednesday night, the officer stated. The horrific scene was discovered by Rajiv’s father on Thursday morning.
“When Rajiv didn’t come out in the morning, his father climbed onto the roof and entered the house through the stairs. That’s when he found out what had happened,” the officer explained.
Family members shared that Rajiv had suffered a serious head injury in an accident a year ago and was receiving treatment for it. This injury had made him more prone to anger.
His wife had gone to her parents' house the day before.
The motive for this tragic event is still unknown, according to the police.
Initial investigations showed that Rajiv had used sandpaper to sharpen the weapon before committing the act. Both the weapon and the sandpaper were found at the scene.
