Twenty Four Bihar Ministers Win Seats

The ruling NDA strengthened its hold over Bihar as it swept past the Mahagathbandhan in the assembly elections, with almost all ministers who contested securing victories. Of the 25 state ministers in the fray, 24 won their seats, reflecting strong voter support for the ruling coalition.

According to election figures available on Saturday, the only minister who failed to win was the sole exception in an otherwise clean sweep for the Council of Ministers. Senior leaders in the administration said the result indicates voter approval of the government’s policies and its performance over the past term. Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, both from the BJP, emerged victorious in their respective constituencies. Choudhary retained the Tarapur seat, while Sinha won from Lakhisarai. Their victories were regarded within the party as a reaffirmation of their leadership roles in the coalition government.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has traditionally been a member of the legislative council, did not contest the assembly elections. His decision to stay out of the electoral race followed the pattern of previous polls, where he has often chosen to continue as an MLC while leading the government. Party workers celebrated the widespread wins across districts, with the NDA leadership attributing the success to coordinated campaigning and the appeal of welfare and development programmes. Observers noted that the near total victory of ministers strengthens the position of the government as it prepares for the next term.

The Mahagathbandhan, which entered the elections hoping to regain lost ground, faced major setbacks across the State, prompting internal discussions over campaign strategy and leadership messaging. Analysts said the result signals a shift in voter sentiment that the opposition will need to study closely.

With the NDA forming the government again, attention now shifts to portfolio allocations and the policy priorities that will define the next phase of governance in Bihar.
