Uproar in Assembly Over Police Action Against Daily-Wagers

On Tuesday, sudden chaos erupted in the Assembly over police action against daily-wagers.

BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa raised the issue of the police crackdown on protesting daily-wagers in Jammu on Monday. In response, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said, "The police are not under my or your control. Instead of shouting about it in the Assembly, you should have raised the issue at the appropriate place a few kilometers from here, where the police are actually controlled."

He also acknowledged that the issues faced by daily-wagers are legitimate and are not just financial but also humanitarian concerns.

He further added, "The lathi-charge on them should not have happened. I am sure the police have already received this concern."

Once the BJP MLAs raised their voice for the regularization of daily-wagers, the NC legislators stood up and countered them, accusing the BJP of doing nothing for daily-wagers in the last decade. NC legislators started chanting "Shame! Shame!" at the BJP.The slogan-shouting on either side of the Assembly continued for around 10 minutes now.Again, there was a chaotic scene, with BJP legislators now shouting their demand, "Regularize daily-wagers!"Amidst all this intensity, the BJP legislators walked out of the Assembly, accusing the NC of being the reason for the daily-wagers' betrayal, which aggravated the tension within the House.
