Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took part in a cycling event in Dehradun on Sunday as part of the 'Fit India' initiative. The rally started at the gate of the CM's Camp Office Complex, celebrating three years of his government.
During the event, Dhami joined other participants in doing push-ups at the Athletics Ground (Ganga Complex) at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Raipur.
Earlier, Dhami expressed that Uttarakhand is committed to following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for everyone to maintain good health. He mentioned that his government is taking steps in this direction and emphasized the importance of a balanced diet for a healthy Uttarakhand. He encouraged everyone to contribute to this health campaign.
In addition, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya joined the 'Fit India Sundays on Cycle' initiative organized by the Sports Authority of India, along with UP Minister Girish Chandra Yadav.
Mandaviya Emphasized the expanding 'Fit India Sunday on Cycle' initiative, citing its benefits in reducing pollution, enhancing physical and mental health, and conserving fuel.
He said, "Today is Sunday, and 'Sunday on Cycle' is becoming a national movement.
Everyone should cycle for an hour on Sundays to stay fit. UP Minister Girish Yadav and I cycled today to promote 'Fit India.' Cycling also helps reduce pollution, improves fitness, and saves fuel. I urge all citizens of India to cycle for an hour and stay healthy."
So far, this nationwide cycling campaign has taken place in over 4,200 locations, with around 200,000 participants. The movement also encourages eco-friendly practices to help lower air pollution levels across the country.
The 'Fit India Sundays on Cycle' event is put together by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) along with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), My Bikes, and MY Bharat. These events take place all over the country at SAI Regional Centres, National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs), and Khelo India centres (KICs).
