Kulgam, April 14: In a continued crackdown against drug trafficking, Kulgam Police arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered a large quantity of contraband substance worth lakhs in the black market.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Police Station Kulgam, along with the Executive Magistrate, swiftly raided a location in village Arreh near Islamia Hafia Institute. During the operation, one individual was apprehended and identified as Irfan Ahmad Raina, son of Mushtaq Ahmad, a resident of Arreh, Kulgam.
A personal search of the accused led to the recovery of 471 grams of heroin-like contraband substance, with an estimated market value running into several lakhs. Following the seizure, an FIR bearing No. 34/2025 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Kulgam, and further investigation is currently underway.
Reaffirming its commitment to a drug-free society, Kulgam Police has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance towards drug abuse and trafficking. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or anti-social activities, emphasizing that community support is essential in eradicating the drug menace from society.
