NEW DELHI: The Election Commission (EC) has revealed that winning candidates from all parties in the recently concluded Bihar elections secured vote totals ranging between 60,000 and 1.5 lakh. This disclosure came on Wednesday amidst allegations and social media discussions suggesting that several top BJP leaders secured around 1.22 lakh votes.
According to EC officials, the vote margins for successful candidates were spread across this range, reflecting the varied nature of the election results. However, certain political figures and social media users raised concerns over what they described as a “coincidence” that several prominent BJP leaders’ vote counts were clustered closely around the 1.22 lakh mark.
Critics of the BJP have speculated that this pattern could suggest the possibility of irregularities in the voting process, with some even alleging that the Election Commission may have played a role in ensuring that BJP candidates garnered a similar number of votes. While no official statement has been issued by the EC in response to these claims, the matter has sparked significant debate within political circles and on social media platforms. Some have called for a thorough investigation into the vote distribution to dispel any doubts regarding the fairness of the election results.
Despite these allegations, the EC maintains that the election was conducted in accordance with established procedures, and no irregularities have been identified. The commission has also urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified claims and to allow the electoral process to be respected.
