Yash Raj Films (YRF) has issued a statement denying allegations that its recently released film Mardaani 3 sensationalised missing persons data for promotional purposes. The controversy erupted after a viral PTI report claimed that 807 people went missing in Delhi in the first half of January, sparking panic online. Delhi Police later clarified that the surge in posts was linked to paid promotion, not actual data, and warned against creating unnecessary fear.
A YRF spokesperson stressed the company’s commitment to ethical practices, saying, “Yash Raj Films is a 50-year-old company founded on the core principles of being highly ethical and transparent. We strongly deny the accusations floating on social media that Mardaani 3’s promotional campaign deliberately sensationalised a sensitive issue.”
Mardaani 3 marks the return of Rani Mukerji as Shivani Shivaji Roy, tackling the case of 93 missing girls over three months. The film has garnered critical acclaim, with audiences praising its gripping narrative and Mukerji’s performance. Within its first week, the film crossed the ₹25 crore mark at the box office.
Delhi Police also appealed to citizens not to fall for rumours surrounding missing children and assured that every effort is being made to trace and reunite missing persons with their families. “The safety of every child is of paramount importance to Delhi Police. Rumour mongering for monetary gain will not be tolerated,” the authorities said in a statement.
Despite the controversy, Mardaani 3 continues to attract audiences for its thrilling storyline and social message. The film combines entertainment with awareness, highlighting the challenges law enforcement faces while keeping viewers engaged. YRF’s prompt clarification aims to maintain trust with the public while continuing the film’s promotional journey responsibly.
