Mela Kheer Bhawani Represents Sacred Ethos of Kashmir

Today is the sacred  Mela Kheer Bhawani at Tulmulla Ganderbal and this  is the representative of the ethos and rich culture of Kashmir. 


Today, as on 3rd June 2025, the Kashmir Pandit community amalgamated at Tulmulla will  pay rich obeisance to Goddess on the eve of the annual Mela Kheer Bhawani.


Devotees thronged the sacred shrine, offering prayers and seeking blessings. The festivities were marked by traditional sacred  rituals, prayers  showcasing the vibrant heritage of Kashmir. The community has come  together, strengthening bonds and celebrating their unique cultural identity. The mela serves as a symbol of communal harmony and spiritual fervor.


As a matter of fact,  Kheer Bhawani, Ksheer Bhawani or the Ragnya Devi temple[a] is a sacred Hindu temple situated at a distance of 25 kilometres (16 mi) north-east of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India, in the village of Tulmulla  in Ganderbal. 


This sacred temple  is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kheer Bhavani constructed over a sacred spring.


It is to be noted as is the custom with Hindu deities, the goddess has many names including Ragnya or Rajna,[c] along with variations in honorifics such as Devi, Mata or Bhagavati. The term kheer refers to a milk and rice pudding that is offered to propitiate the goddess. Kheer Bhawani is sometimes translated as 'Milk Goddess'. 


In this regard, we need to bear in mind that The worship of Kheer Bhawani is universal among the Hindu Kashmiris, most of them who worship her as their protective patron deity Kuladevi.


On the eve of Mela Kheer Bhawani the spirits in Kashmir are high and people are praying for peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. 


Every sane voice is also praying for dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits .
