Toilet is the need of every human. The quality of toilet is a key progress indicator of a society. The public toilet system is a basic facility and a serious need of every society. A strong public toilet system symbolizes the progress we have made.
The public toilet system of Kashmir is not presenting a very good picture, to say the least. If we see the ground realities, we still lack much on the front of offering a quality public toilet system to our masses. The masses, too, are guilty of not keeping public toilets clean and using them in a selfish way. When we, as common people, enter a toilet, most often we don't pour water or flush after attending the call of nature, and this speaks of a lack of civic sense on our part.
First and foremost, the number of public toilets in Kashmir is very low, and even in the summer capital Srinagar, the number of public toilets is still low, considering our huge population, and this causes hardships to the masses.
Another important aspect is that public toilets in Kashmir are very unclean and unhygienic. They resemble a cesspool of dirt, lacking the cleanliness aspect. From hospitals to parks, shopping malls to tourist spots, the toilets in Kashmir, in 90 percent of instances, are very dirty.
Both masses and government need to cooperate to provide quality, especially clean, public toilets to the people of Kashmir. Public toilets are the face of any nation, and we need to keep them clean.
