The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the portal for verification of marks and re-evaluation of Class 12 board examination answer books will open from June 1, 2026. The board had earlier planned to begin the process on May 29, but the schedule was postponed due to technical concerns and issues reported by students regarding the online system.
According to CBSE, the revised timeline is aimed at ensuring a smoother and more transparent post-result review process. The board said it is strengthening the portal infrastructure to handle a large number of applications and reduce the chances of technical glitches during the verification and re-evaluation window.
Students who are dissatisfied with their board examination marks can apply through the official CBSE portal for verification of marks, obtain scanned copies of their evaluated answer books and seek re-evaluation of specific answers. Under the revised system, students are first allowed to access copies of their answer sheets before deciding whether to proceed with further review requests.
The move comes amid concerns surrounding CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, which was introduced to modernize the evaluation process. Reports indicated that a small number of answer-sheet mix-ups were detected and thousands of copies had to be assessed manually because of scanning issues. These developments led to demands for greater transparency in the review mechanism.
CBSE has also introduced support measures for students, including helpline services and email assistance, to address problems faced during the application process. The board said technical experts are working on improvements to ensure stable access to the portal and quicker resolution of complaints.
As per the board’s guidelines, the review process will take place in stages. Students can first apply for verification of marks, followed by obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer books and then requesting re-evaluation of specific questions if necessary. CBSE has stated that only candidates who obtain copies of their answer books will be eligible to apply for re-evaluation in the concerned subjects.
Students have been advised to regularly check the official CBSE website for detailed schedules, fee structures and application deadlines related to the post-result review process. The board said the updated system is intended to improve fairness, transparency and confidence in the evaluation process.
