The Delhi government has announced free travel in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses for candidates appearing in the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. The decision was announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who said the move is aimed at ensuring that students do not face transportation-related difficulties on the day of the examination.
Under the initiative, NEET candidates will be allowed to travel free of cost on all DTC buses by showing their valid admit cards to conductors. The government said the facility has been introduced to help students reach their examination centres conveniently and reduce the financial burden on families already dealing with the challenges of the re-test.
Announcing the decision, Rekha Gupta said no student should face inconvenience on a day that is crucial for their future. She also extended her best wishes to candidates preparing for the examination and said the government is committed to supporting students during the re-exam process.
The NEET-UG re-test is scheduled to be conducted on June 21 following controversies and concerns surrounding the examination process earlier this year. Lakhs of students across the country are expected to appear for the medical entrance test, making transportation and logistical arrangements a key concern for many candidates and their families.
Delhi is not the only state to introduce such a measure. Similar announcements have been made by Punjab, Haryana and Bihar governments, which have also offered free bus travel facilities for NEET aspirants to help them reach examination centres without difficulty.
Officials said students will only need to carry their NEET-UG 2026 admit cards while travelling on DTC buses on the examination day to avail the benefit. No separate registration or application process has been announced for the facility.
The move has been welcomed by students and parents, especially those travelling long distances within the national capital for the examination. Education experts say such initiatives can help reduce stress for candidates and ensure better accessibility to examination centres on an important academic day.
