RISING CASES OF EYE FLU IN CHILDREN: CAUSES AND EFFECTIVE TREATMENT FOR OPTIMAL HEALTH

As cases of conjunctivitis are on the rise after covid 19 the new viral eye infection is spreading in India, Doctors are witnessing approx 100 cases each day, especially since it is affecting mostly  children. It is said that it would be a pandemic like covid 19 which is named "eye flu".

Signs of eye flu

Patients with eye flu feel unusual itchiness and irritation in the eye and the eyes turn red and eyelashes get swollen. A usual sticky discharge from the eyes can be seen. In severe infection, people also face severe pain in the eyes and are even not able to open their eyes.

How it is spreading

The eye flu is spreading through contact with touch. if an infected patient touches any surface the surface gets contaminated and if another person touches the same surface and then touches his eyes he will get infected.

Causes

It is caused due to Monsoons and climate change as it is the best time for the breeding of bacteria due to heat, humidity, and waterlogging.

This viral infection could also be spread due to different allergic reactions to pollen, cosmetics, etc.

Preventive measures

To prevent the further spread of the disease, the health authorities have recommended frequent hand washing, avoiding touching eyes, personal hygiene, disinfecting surfaces, and isolating infected individuals.

Treatment

The best cure for the infection is not touching your eyes or coming in contact with an infected person. Doctors have also recommended 3-5 days of isolation for school children in case of infection.
