AAP vs BJP: Kejriwal Slams L-G's Welfare Probe

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has launched a scathing attack on the BJP after Lieutenant Governor (L-G) V.K. Saxena ordered a detailed probe into several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) welfare schemes. The L-G's decision has stirred controversy, with Kejriwal alleging that the BJP is manipulating constitutional offices to hinder development projects aimed at benefiting the common people.

Kejriwal questioned the timing and intent behind the probe, calling it a politically motivated move designed to distract from the BJP's own failures. “The BJP cannot digest AAP’s success in delivering free education, healthcare, and water to Delhi’s residents. This is their strategy to derail our pro-people agenda,” he said at a press briefing.

The welfare schemes under scrutiny include the free electricity subsidy program, mohalla clinics, and the mid-day meal scheme for schoolchildren. The L-G's office has defended the probe, citing allegations of financial irregularities and misuse of public funds.

Critics, however, view this as another chapter in the ongoing tussle between the Delhi government and the BJP-led central government. The move has sparked a political debate, with AAP supporters accusing the BJP of resorting to authoritarian tactics to suppress opposition voices.

Political analysts believe this escalation could impact Delhi's political landscape ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections. While the BJP claims to be acting in the public interest, the optics of targeting welfare schemes could backfire, further polarizing the electorate.

For now, the battlelines are drawn, with Kejriwal vowing to resist what he calls “undemocratic interference” in his government’s functioning.
